COMMERCE — Helen Nadine Pierce, 84, of Commerce died April 3, 2007. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lisa Greenwood-Wolcott officiating. Burial follows in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Daughter of Luther P. and Ohin Elizabeth Brister Surratt, she was born July 30, 1922, in Lorenzo. She was married to Willie Pierce for 54 years. Mrs. Pierce retired after many years of providing child care. She enjoyed taking care of children, flowering plants, cooking, and watching Willie work in the garden. She knew no stranger.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Boynton and husband George of Andrews; grandchildren Trey Chaney of Commerce, Kirk Chaney of Forney, Chad Chaney of Forney, Ted Williams of Leonard, Greg Williams of Lone Oak, Leigh Ann Lewis of Flower Mound, Brad Boynton of Frisco, Stephanie Martin of Andrews, Brett Boynton of Buda, Amy Duty of Arlington and Laura Brent of McKinney; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Travis Surratt of Odessa; a brother-in-law and his wife, Marion and Mildred Pierce; a son-in-law, Scoot Chaney; daughter-in-law Ann Williams; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lynda Jean Chaney; and a son, James David Williams.

Grandsons Ted Williams, Greg Williams, Trey Chaney, Kirk Chaney, Chad Chaney, Brad Boynton and Brett Boynton are pallbearers.
