Ida Pearle McDonald Sparks

Final rites were observed on Thursday afternoon, August 6, 1942, at the First Baptist Church in Celeste for Mrs. Joe W. Sparks, 64, lifelong resident of Celeste, who died Wednesday, August 5, 1942, in a McKinney hospital following a long illness. The Rev. W. B. McDaniel of Greenville and the Rev. Paul, the Rev. Eugene Skelton, and the Rev. Carroll Chadwick officiated. Burial followed in the Leonard Cemetery.

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. A. McDonald, pioneer Hunt countians, Mrs. Sparks was born on February 4, 1876, near Celeste, and had resided in that community all of her life. For years she had been a member of the Baptist Church and an ardent worker. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and had been quite active in numerous community affairs.

Mrs. Sparks is survived by her husband; a son, Felton O. Sparks of Liberty; two daughters, Mrs. Oscar C. (Willie Olivia)Christopherson, Shreveport, Louisiana and Mrs. T. J. (Alma Jean) Kilgore, Beaumont; a granddaughter, Shirley Jean Christopherson; two sisters, Mrs. J. F. (Alice) Roach and Mrs. B. M. (Ruby) McCraw, both of Celeste; and two brothers, Dr. J. Frank McDonald of Hillsboro and Charles A. McDonald of Stephenville.
