Jack M. Lindenzweig, 84, of Greenville, died the evening of Sept. 18, 2006, at Mesquite Community Hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Terry L. Blankenship will officiate. Burial is Prairie Valley Cemetery. Born Dec. 3, 1921, in Chester, S.C., he was the son of Carl R. and Mamie T. Timmie Lindenzweig. He married Faye Holder on June 14, 1996, in Greenville. He graduated from the Citadel as a second lieutenant. Mr. Lindenzweig served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot during World War II. He did flight training on B-24s, B-25s, and B-26s and following his flight training obtained the rank of captain. He retired from E-Systems in 1981 with 35 years of service. Mr. Lindenzweig was a member of First Baptist Church. He was one of the founders of Hands of Compassion for the church and was minister for the group for more than 10 years. Surviving are his wife of Greenville; a son, William T. Lindenzweig of Greenville; daughter Sharon Lindenzweig of Watauga; a brother, Bob Lindenzweig of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Billye F. Lindenzweig, and a brother, W.T. Lindenzweig. Pallbearers are Kevin Lindenzweig, J.D. Manley, Tommy Burk, Billy Wayne Huey, Jimmie Rogers and Bill Domenico. Honorary pallbearers are John Nelson, Clyde Dodd, Royce Litchfield, James Stephens and John Worthy. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
