Johnnie Jerline Roach Watson

Mrs. E. H. Watson Services Thursday at Commerce

Mrs. Johnnie Jerline Watson, of Commerce, died Wednesday, April 13, 1960, at 2:30 AM, in a Commerce Hospital.

Born on November 8, 1897, in the Lane community near Celeste, she was the daughter of W. R. Roach and Hattie Pierce Roach.

Educated in the Celeste Public Schools, Mrs. Watson attended North Texas State College and received her Bachelor and Master degrees from East Texas State College.

She taught in the Celeste Public Schools for a number of years. She and E. H. Watson were married on April 7, 1922. At the time of the marriage, Mr. Watson was superintendent of Celeste schools.

Mrs. Watson had been a member of the First Methodist Church since early childhood. She was a member of the Woman's Missionary Society, Delphian Club, College Dames, Alpha Chi Scholarship Society, and other college groups.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, at the W. Y. Goff Chapel in Commerce. The Rev. G. C. Randolph officiated. Burial was in Rosemount.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband; two brothers, W. T. Roach of Robert Lee, Texas; W. R. Roach of Celeste; two aunts, Mrs. P. I. Roach of Fort Worth and Mrs. Walter Pierce of Celeste; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Jerry Sue Watson, preceded her mother in death in 1942.
