Jonas Harris Sparks

Jonas Harris Sparks, 46, of Shelby Co., Tennessee, died January 28, 1887, in Hunt County, Texas.

He was married to Olivia Anne Hudson on December 23, 1866, in Arkansas Co., Arkansas. He was a private in the Civil War from 1861 to 1865 in Company C of the 18th Arkansas Regiment. He moved to Texas from Arkansas sometime after 1882.

Survivors were his wife; sons, Daniel W. Sparks (1868), Joseph Weldon Sparks (1870), Jonas David Sparks (1874), Emma Lillie Sparks (1876), Moman R. Sparks (1879), and Thomas Benjamin Sparks (1882).

Daniel W. Sparks married Ettie Redman and died in 1916 in Celeste. Joseph Weldon Sparks married Ida Pearle McDonald and died in 1953 in Celeste. Emma Lillie Sparks married Enzo Love Ewing. Moman R. Sparks' first wife was Ollie Gill. His second wife was Ava Pearl Stinton. Thomas Ben Sparks married Tommie Shoemake. He died in 1976.

The grandchildren on Jonas Harris Sparks which have a Celeste known connection are Felton Olmis Sparks, Willie Olivia Sparks, Alma Jean Sparks, Floyd Dial Ewing, Grace Olivia Ewing, Loyd Weldon Ewing, Onilla Drusilla Ewing, Davis Sparks, Milton Robert Sparks, Glenn Morris Sparks, Olive Jo Sparks, Lillie Catherine Sparks, Annie Mae Sparks, and Mildred Lee Sparks Roach.

Mr. Jonas Harris Sparks was buried in McWright Cemetery, Hunt Co., TX. (Rootsweb and various other sources)
