O. R. (Rit) Marshall

Funeral services for O. R. (Rit) Marshall, 70, were held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 8, 1953, at the Baptist Church in Celeste. Officiating at the services were the Rev. Earl Allen, Celeste Baptist pastor, and the Rev. V. H. Arnold, Celeste Methodist pastor. Burial was made in the IOOF Cemetery at Merit.

Nephews served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were S. R. Granberry, R. C. Denny, J. E. Pierce, A. W. Hudson, J. A. Taylor, and Ralph Braddy.

Mr. Marshall, prominent stock farmer and a lifelong resident of Hunt County, died suddenly at 3:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 1953, following a heart attack suffered at his stock farm at Celeste. He was born on June 26, 1883, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Marshall.

Survivors include his wife, the former Annabel Avens; one daughter, Mrs. O. D. Stringers of Longview; two grandchildren; a sisters, Mrs. Hud Ellison of Big Spring; and a brother, Carl Marshall of Lamesa.
