Mrs. E. J. Mitchem Called by Death
Mrs. E. J. Mitchem, long time resident of Greenville and well known died at 1 o’clock this morning in Terrell.
The body was brought overland to this city by Stringer and Sons and was carried to their mortuary on Stonewall St. Definite funeral arrangements had not been made this afternoon but it is probable that services will he held sometime tomorrow at the Stringer chapel.
Mrs. Mitchem was one of Greenville’s-best known women and was loved by hundreds of friends. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Vada Michem of this city, a brother, Will Noble of Dallas and a sister who resides in California.
Notes: Will Noble was Eliza's son, and the sister mentioned was actually her daughter Lula Mitchem Tobin.

Last Rites for Mrs. Mitchem Are Observed Today
Final Rites were observed at 10:30 o’clock this morning for Mrs. E. J. Mitchem, 81, who died Friday in Terrell. The services were held at the Stringer and sons Chapel on Stonewall-st, conducted by Dr. T. O. Perrin, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of which Mr. Mitchem and been a member for 33 years. Burial was in East Mount cemetery.
Active pallbearers were T. W. Thompson, Melvin Kimbrough, Jno. Boles, T. S. Mitchell, Frank Wolfe and John Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were elders and deacons of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Mitchem’s death followed an illness of two year duration. She was a native Texan, having been born in Sabine county on Dec. 28, 1851. She was married to W. L. Noble and one child, W. L. Noble Jr. of Dallas survives that union. Soon after his son’s birth W. L. Noble Sr. died and several years later the deceased married E. J. Mitchem and they came to Greenville in 1900.
To this Union three children were born, two of whom, Miss Vada Mitchem of Greenville and Mrs.R. S. Tobin of Los Angeles, Calif. Survive. A son James B. Mitchem died in 1916.
Early in life Mrs. Mitchem professed faith in the Master and united with the Presbyterian church.
When she and Mr. Mitchem moved to Greenville to make their home she moved her membership to the First Presbyterian and had been a faithful Christian and active worker as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Mitchem Dies Friday
Pioneer Texan Died At Terrell Following Illness Of Two Years
Mrs. E. J. Mitchem, 81, mother of Miss Vada Mitchem of this city, died at Terrell at an early hour Friday morning following an illness of some two years duration. The remains were brought to this city Friday and are being held at the Stringer and Sons mortuary, pending funeral services which are to be held at 10:30 o’clock this morning at the Stringer Chapel.
Services will be conducted by Rev. T. O. Perrin, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of which Mrs. Mitchem had been a member for some thirty three years. Active pallbearers will be T. W, Thompson, Melvin Kimbrough, John Boles, T. S. Mitchell, Frank Wolfe and John Ellis. Honorary pall bearers will be Elders and Deacons of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in East Mount Cemetery.

Mrs. E. J. Mitchem died last Friday
Mrs. E. J. Mitchem died last Friday and burial in East Mound Cemetery Saturday.
The deceased had been in ill health for some years and for a long while in the hospital and death came evidently as a welcomed visitor to this good woman whole desire to live was connected with the desire to serve.
She was long a member of the First Presbyterian church where she served faithfully and well until her health failed.
A native Texan, she had been twice married and is survived by the following children, W. L. Noble Jr. of Dallas; Miss Vada Mitchem, of this city and Mrs. R. S. Tobin of Los Angeles California.
A son J. B. Mitchem, died in 1916.
Notes: Eliza has no marker but is listed on the Cem inventory and her obit states she is there as well.
