For Mrs. Mason

MRS. JESE MASON DIED AT

HER HOME, 4004 ROBERTS

STREET, FRIDAY NIGHT

Mrs. Jesse Mason, 76 years of age, died at her home at 4004 Roberts street at 11:30 o’clock Friday night following a period of ill health that had lasted about a year. She had been critically ill about a week.

Alfleeta Payns (sic Payne) was born in Hunt County, at Mineral Heights, just south of this city on November, 18, 1863, and would have been seventy-six years of age today. She had lived in Greenville during the entire time and was one of the best known and most lovable characters in the city. She was married to Jesse Mason on September 13, 1877 in Greenville and he preceded her in death some twenty-five years ago. She had made her home at the same location for some forty five years.

Mrs. Mason professed religion and united with the church when she was about fourteen years of age and at the time of her death was a member of the Park Street Baptist Church. She was a conscientious Christian and lived according to the teachings of her Master in her daily life.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at Park Street Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. C. A. Voyles, pastor. Interment will follow in East Mount cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from the membership of the Young Men’s Bible Class of the Park Street Church.

 

 

Following a period of ill health of a year’s duration, Mrs. Jesse Mason, 76, life-long resident of Hunt-co and one of Greenville’s best known women, passed away at 11:30 o’clock Friday night at her home, 4004 Robert-st. She had been critically ill about a week.

Last rites were observed at 3 o’clock this afternoon. Services were held from the part Street Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. C. A. Voyles officiating. Interment was in East Mount cemetery.

Pallbearers were selected from the membership of the Young Men’s Bible Class of the Park Street church.

Surviving Mrs. Mason are the following children: George Mason of Dallas; Mrs. Herbert Spencer of Greenville; Dugal Mason, Martha Alfleeta Mason and Bertram Mason of Greenville. One child died in infancy. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and a brother, Geo. V. Payne of Norman, Oklahoma.
