MRS. M’GRATH OF

THIS CITY DEAD

FUNERAL PROMINENT RESIDENT

COULD NOT BE ANNOUNCED

LAST EVENING

Mrs. J. T. McGrath, aged 73 years, died suddenly yesterday evening at 6:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. K. Windom, 1317 East Hemphill street.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced at a late hour last night awaiting word of arrival of relatives from a distance.

Sarah Ira Peak was born in Jasper County, Missouri, in 1852, a member of one of the pioneer families of that section. She was united in marriage February 14, 1868, to J. T. McGrath in Missouri where the couple made their home until thirty-four years ago when they came to Texas, settling in this County, since which time they have made their home in Greenville and at Cash, removing to the latter place only a few months ago.

Mrs. McGrath was converted at an early age and at her death was a member of the Christian church at Weiland. Throughout her active years she took a leading part in church affairs of all kinds, and daily emulated the life and character of her master. She was widely known and loved by her numerous acquaintances who recognized in her a friend of all. She was kind and considerate and attentive to those in need.

Deceased was stricken ill some four months ago and had been confined to her bed about four weeks. Her condition was improving, however, and her death came as a shock to members of the family and numerous friends.

Mrs. McGrath is survived by her husband, J. T. McGrath, and the following children; Mrs. Nat Conger and Mrs. G. K. Windom, Greenville; Mrs. John Edwards, South Sulpher; Mrs. Will Wood, Tidwell; M. L. McGrath, Groesbeck; Robert McGrath, Coleraine, Minn.; Mrs. Joe Miercort, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Ruth Ellen VanGorder, Evans, Colo.; and Mrs. R. N. Parker, Bennington, Okla.

Two brothers Dr. P. A. Peak and County Judge N. E. Peak of this city, also survive, together with other brothers and sisters.
