Rosa Motheral Johnson Pickett

An illness of ten days duration was fatal at 7:30 PM, Thursday, October 11, 1951, to Mrs. Rosa Johnson Pickett, 86, longtime resident of Celeste. Mrs. Pickett died from a heart ailment at the home of her son, S. T. Johnson in Celeste.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13, 1951, at the Simmons Church, south of Greenville and burial was made there in the Simmons Cemetery. Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Ed Coley, pastor of the White Rock Methodist Church, with grandsons acting as pallbearers. Arrangements were made by James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home of Greenville.

A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Pickett was born on August 3, 1865, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Motheral. In 1884, she was married to Mr. Johnson and her preceded her in death. On December 22, 1904, she was married to Mr. Pickett.

Mrs. Pickett had lived in Celeste for forty-eight years and was one of the best known women of that community. She was a member of the Methodist Church at White Rock.

Survivors include two sons, S. T. Johnson and W. M. Johnson of Celeste; a sister, Mrs. W. H. Inabinette of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Three brothers and several sisters preceded her in death.
