Robert Thayer Pierce, Jr

Robert Thayer Pierce Jr. died May 19, 2008, in an automobile accident near Phoenix, Ariz., as reported by his parents, John and Phyllis Carrier of Commerce. Born Oct. 30, 1961, in Greenville, Robert grew up in Hunt County. He graduated in 1980 from Commerce High School, and attended East Texas State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, and several other colleges in Texas and Arizona, where he has resided the past several years in Black Canyon City, Ariz. Robert has a large family and many friends living in the northeast Texas area, including Commerce, Dallas, Bonham, and Garland. Robert was an artist, craftsman, and mechanic by trade. He was devoted to wilderness preservation, helping the elderly and the needy, and was also a Christian and lifelong student of religious faith. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held for Robert at 11 a.m., June 7, in the First Christian Church of Commerce, 1101 Sycamore. A reception will follow the service. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at the First Christian Church in Commerce in the name of Robert T. Pierce Jr.
