Mrs. Purkey Passes Away

Peniel Woman Dies at Local Hospital on Wednesday Morning

Mrs. Emma Pearson Purkey, 68 years of age, well-known Peniel woman, died at a local hospital from a recent operation.

Emma Pearson was born at Howard Quarter, Tennessee in 1860.  She was united in marriage to J. A. Purkey in 1882 and for the past several years they have been prominent residents at Peniel.

Mrs. Purkey was a splendid Christian woman and for many years had been an active member of the Peniel Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband and by the following children:  ___ Purkey of Dallas; P. J. Purkey, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. V. W. ___ Greenville; Mrs. ___ of Blue Ridge; W. H. Purkey and M. T. Purkey of Celeste; I. E. Purkey of Duncanville (?), Mrs. John Jeffries of Arlington, Texas.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed late Wednesday night.
