Albus S. Ramsey

Final rites were observed at the First Baptist Church, Wolfe City, Wednesday afternoon, August 16, 1952, for Albus (Alvis) S. Ramsey, 84, former Celeste resident, who died at his home in Wolfe City on Monday, August 4, 1952, following a lengthy illness. Officiating at the last rites were the Rev. Robert Clements of Greenville and the Rev. G. B. Bailey, pastor of the Wolfe City Baptist Church.

Interment was made in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, east of Celeste, under the direction of the James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jack McWilliams, Lawrence Hunter, and Houston Furr of Celeste and W. R. Hampton, Ira Hames, and Tom Robnett of Wolfe City.

Mr. Ramsey was born in Lebanon, Tennessee on March 7, 1868, and came to Texas when a young man. He lived in McKinney and in the Celeste area most of his life. He moved to Wolfe City in 1944. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Ramsey was married to Mrs. Leona Mulkey in Celeste in 1925. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been a deacon in the church for sixty years.

Survivors include his wife of Wolfe City, six sons, four stepchildren, a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and other relatives.
