Greenville Herald-Banner – March 22, 1959 -- Funeral services for Simmie Lewis McNeely, 61, a native of Hugo, Okla., who died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in a Greenville hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baptist Church in Greenville.

The Rev. H. B. Gideon and Rev. A. W. Cunningham will officiate and burial will be in the Sullivan Cemetery near Campbell.

The James-Coker-Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Ralph Evans, W. D. Lanier, Roy Stapleton, Calvin Stapleton, Omer (Bun) Lyday and Ray Compton.

Mr. McNeely as born Jan. 10, 1896 in Hugh, Okla., and was the son of John McNeely and Maggie Milam McNeely. He was a retired farmer and at the time of his death was residing in Celeste. He had been a member of the Celeste Baptist church for more than 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Euvalena Hatchett, whom he married August 28, 1920; two daughters, Mrs. Joe L. Clack, Paris, and Mrs. W. F. Jernigan, Oklahoma City; two sons, Lee McNeely Serman, and Elmer McNeely, Greenville; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Attaberry, Antlers, Okla., Mrs. Eula Hatchett, Greenville, and Mrs. Maggie Jones, Hugo, Okla.; three brothers, Curtis McNeely, Big Spring, Johnny McNeely, Dallas, and Elmer McNeely, Hugo, Okla. One son Andrew McNeely preceded him in death.
