Greenville Herald Banner
Wednesday, Oct 11, 2006

BEEBE, Ark. — Thomas Eugene Womack was born in Cabot, Ark., and lived in Little Rock, Ark., until the death of his beloved wife Betty Jean of 50 years. Thomas moved to Commerce to live with his son and daughter-in-law after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2002. Thomas served his country in World War II; upon returning home he continued his military service as a reservist. He received a bachelor of science in business from UCA and retired in December 1992 from Farm Bureau Insurance of Arkansas where he was a systems analyst supervisor. Thomas was an active member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church of Little Rock for more than 40 years. He quickly became a friend to many in his new church home in Texas. He was devoted to his faith, as well as a devoted husband, father, friend, and brother. The memories he leaves behind will bring a smile to the faces of many, because even when he was ill he maintained a sense of humor and lightness that made everyone smile. Thomas returned to loving Spirit on Oct. 7, 2006. We feel blessed to have had him with us for four years after his first battle with cancer. His will to live, to love and to be loved was strong and it helped him to live a fulfilling life, sharing love and laughter with everyone he met. Thomas is survived by his only son, Gerald Dwayne and daughter-in-law Dr. Velvete Womack of Texas; his grandchildren, Chasity Gaines of Kansas, and from Texas, Ryan Barr, Matthew and William Womack; his great-granddaughter, Cadence Gaines; his brothers Charles, Johnny, and Carol Wayne, all of Arkansas, and Dewey Womack of Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westbrook Funeral Home in Beebe, Ark., with burial in Monk Cemetery, Ward, Ark. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to National Institute for Cancer, Building 31, Room 11A16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Md. 20892.
