WOLFE CITY — James T. Thompson of Wolfe City died July 14, 2008, in Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville following a six-month illness. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, Wolfe City, with Dr. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City.Born in Arkansas on Aug. 19,1931, he was the son of Clarence and Macie Jeffcoat Thompson. He married Ella Jane Latimer on March 15, 1957, in Bonham. Mr. Thompson was a veteran who served in the Navy. He retired as a machinist for Southwest Pump. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wolfe City.Survivors are his wife; one son, Brian Thompson and wife Julie of Greenville; one grandson, Jacob Thompson of Greenville; two granddaughters, Alaina and Lindsay Thompson of Greenville; two brothers, Bill Thompson of Wolfe City and Donald Ray Thompson of Honey Grove; and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers are Joe Morris Parsons, Don Monroe, Stevie Sanders, Kevin Ice, Gene Monroe and Marvin Pack.Memorials may be made to Celeste High School Basketball.
