Tommie Sparks

Mrs. Tommie Sparks, 87, died at 10:19 PM, Friday, July 28, 1972, at the Baylor Hospital in Dallas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 30, 1972, at the First United Methodist Church of Celeste, with the Rev. Freeman Pearson officiating.

Burial will be in the Celeste Cemetery, under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard.

Mrs. Sparks was born on April 3, 1885, in Celeste and was married to Tom B. Sparks on September 15, 1901, in Celeste.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Sparks of Celeste; a daughter, Mrs. W. R. Roach of Celeste; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Gill of Greenville and Mrs. Lea Weathers of Amarillo; a grandchild, Mrs. Sydne West; and a great-grandchild, Miss Kandace West.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Saye, Hubert Shields, Jack Ruff, Albert Granberry, Harris Sparks, and Jack Perkins.

Note: Tommie Sparks birthday was April 23, not the 3rd. She was the daughter of William Lafayette Shoemake and Nancy Ellen Lyday Shoemake. Her sister was Lena Weathers, not Lea. She was a Methodist minister's daughter. He was a district superintendent in the Methodist church.
