Troy S. Meeks, Jr., 81, of Greenville died November 23, 2007, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 26, 2007, at Highland Terrace Baptist Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Layman, Dr. Bobby Renfro, Mr. Randy Meeks, Mr. Chad Marshall, and the Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating.

Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.

The son of Troy S. Meeks, Sr. and Lenah Caldwell, he was born April 27, 1926, in Kingston. He married Dorothy Ayers on January 29, 1949, in Greenville. He worked thirty years for Foremost Dairies and retired from the Greenville Independent School District. He raised cattle and farmed as a younger man. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Ricky Meeks, on February 22, 1955.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Ayers Meeks of Greenville; son and daughter-in-law Randy Meeks and Donna Meeks of Greenville; daughter Jennifer Clark of Greenville; sisters Minnie Kerr Sauls of Clarksville and Johnye Smith of Dallas; grandson and wife Chad Marshall and Amanda Marshall of Greenville; granddaughter and husband Paige Jones and Nick Jones of Greenville; grandson and fiancée Justin Meeks and Karla of Greenville; granddaughter and husband Abby Samples and Shawn Samples of Greenville; granddaughter and husband Sarah Rice and Elliott Rice of Orrick, Missouri; great-grandchildren Caden Marshall and Jax Marshall, Lydia Jones and Levi Jones and Hunter Horton; three great-grandchildren to be; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Jerry Bench, Gary Griffin, David Sandlin, Bill Waidelich, Billy Hardy, David Roberts, and Richard Hardy. Honorary pallbearers are deacons of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Visitation is from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, November 25, 2007, at the funeral home.
