Sonora Cemetery is located in Hunt County approximately 8 miles southeast of Wolfe Citty, Texas and 1 1/2 miles east of Fairlie, Texas, on 7 and 7/10 acres. The cemetery is located near where the old Sonora Church and School once stood. The first grave is that of S.B. McBee who died in 1872, at that time there were 3.5 acres, by 1880 it had increased to the present size. The Texas State Historical Marker was installed in 1984. There are probably many more unknown burials here. One record shows to be over 900 burials here.
