Hunt County Women Honored At A&M

Fenton, Tahoka, Texas.  These five Texas women comprised the second group in the state to receive "The Master Farm Homemaker Recognition" awarded by The Farmer's Wife, national farm women's magazine, Saint Paul, with the cooperation of the Extension Serve of Texas A&M College.

College Station, Texas, July 29--Texas paid tribute to its farm women here Monday at the annual Farmers Short Course at the A&M College of Texas when five of them were honored as Master Farm Homemakers in a public recognition ceremony attended by farm folk from all parts of the state.

The five women are:  Mrs. R. W. Fenton, Tahoka; Mrs. Nevil Felty, Celeste; Mrs. J. E. Fooshee, Greenville; Mrs. A. F. Ernst, Somerset; and Mrs. O. W. Fry; Lockney.

They received the gold pin and title of Master Farm Homemaker in a ceremony by The Farmer's Wife magazine...Miss Bess M. Rowe of the magazine in awarding the honor said, "This is recognition for all farm women and an acknowledgment of their job as a profession worthy of the highest respect."

Mrs. Felty has been president of her Home Demonstration Club for two years and vice-president of the County Council, 4-H club leader and in "being a real homemaker is the biggest job any woman over undertook."  She has been active in the home demonstration work for her community and county, a 4-H girls' club leader and vice-president of the Hunt County and vice-president of the Hunt County Federation of Women's clubs.

The article continued that Mrs. Felty was in charge of her club exhibit at her community fair, hopes to retire on the farm, does church work, and voted in the last election.
