Comments:

(Copied from Family Bible of Thomas K. MULLINS), "John
Loftin MULLINS and Mary Ann PERDUE were married November 23, 1853."
[Research notes on Alverado MULLINS: Tombstone inscriptions were taken in
1975 of the MULLINS Family Cemetery, Pike Co., AL, by Jane Jernigan
Brantley. She indicated this child to be a son of Thomas K Amelia
Howard MULLINS. There are no dates on the stone. The only inscription
noted in the transcription is: "Our first born ... age one year". I feel
there is more of a likelihood that Alverado was in fact the son of John
Loftin Mary Ann Elizabeth (PERDUE) MULLINS -- Thomas Amelia married
in Georgia in Dec. 1830 lived there until about 1849 or so before
relocating to Pike Co., AL. The MULLINS Family Bible was transcribed
submitted to William E BROCKMAN for inclusion in his BROCKMAN family
research. The Bible lists 11 children for Thomas Amelia with the first
born being Ursula Antoinette MULLINS, born in 1832 in Georgia. The next
8 children were born in Georgia as well. It would be unlikely that the
family would bury this child in the early 1830's, have 9 other children,
dig up this child and carry the remains to Alabama to be reburied and have a
marker placed indicating it to be "1st born".
John and "Mollie" married in 1853. Their 1st child of public record was
Eugenia or "Gussie", born in 1857. The 1900 US Census taker indicated
that Mollie had born a total of 8 children but only 4 survived.
Therefore it is a more likely assumption that this was in fact their
first born. I will carry him so in light of these observations.]
John L. MULLINS, private, Co H, 18th Alabama Infantry, CSA, was enlisted
July 29, 1861; captured Aug. 5, 1864, near Atlanta, GA, and released on
taking the oath of allegiance Jun. 16, 1865 (4)
John MULLINS Place of Death: Edgewood, TX. Cause of Death: Malaria. Name
of Physician: J H HENDRIX, Edgewood, TX (2)
S F HILLIARD of Canton Texas, a member of the Merchantile firm of "The
HILLIARD Merchantile Company" of Canton, Texas, states under oath that
their firm conducts the undertakers business in connection with their
regular merchantile business, and they were the undertakers at the burial
of Mrs. Mary MULLINS who died at K G GRISER's residence at Canton, Texas,
on July 28, 1917. That any record show that the death of Mrs. Mary
MULLINS occured at K G GRISER's residence in Canton on July the 28, 1917.
That her remains were buried on same day in the Canton Cemetery. Her age
at her death being 82 years, 6 months and 25 days and that Dr. M L COX of
Canton, Texas, was her attending Physician. (5)
