BLOCK/CIELO RANCH/ENGEL STORE
at the Guadalupe Crossing north of
Bergheim
HISTORY: The first Andreas Engel home and first general store were here. Because of heavy flooding, he moved to higher ground and established a new store calling the place Bergheim. Later the old store burned down. What was his home is now used as a tack room on the ranch. This is the oldest surviving structure on the ranch. The ranch was purchased by William C. Block and his wife, Susan about 1989 and they named the ranch Cielo Ranch.
