BESELER, (MAX) BUILDING
143 S. Main
FUNCTION: This building was originally used to house the
Beseler Stores- a dress shop, haberdashery and saloon. In July, 1985 Mr. David
Gray wrote a letter to the editor of the Boerne Star thanking the many who
helped him in his re- construction of this building. In the article he said,
"The Beseler building (built about 1916) sat vacant from the fall of 1980 until
the spring of 1984 when I began work on it."..."Max Beseler's Dress-up Shop and
Haberdashery was the original business at 141. It last served as an auto parts
store. After prohibition Max Beseler reopened his well known bar at 143 where
[his son-in- law], Udo Harz, continued until 1974."

[Note: Correction to Mr. Gray's article: Udo Harz
was a brother to Herbert Harz, the son-in-law of Max Beseler.]
