HISTORY: The history of this building is not clear. It is rumored that it was a commissary during the Civil War in the 1860's. It could have been an early jail in the 1870's. This idea comes from the fact that the original arches over windows were changed, perhaps for bars. The Sanborn Maps show it as surveyor office in 1910 and 1924. It has been the Extension Office since 1984.
