Boerne PostBoerne, TexasJohn Guthrie1879 -1906 Weekly After Judge Schweppe stopped publishing, John Guthrie moved from Bandera, Texas where he published the Bandera Bugle, and established the Boerne Post. The Post eventually merged with San Antonio Critic according to Chronicling America, however, Gammon Davis states in his article that the Boerne Star was originally The Boerne Post and Star.

He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1862. When he died he was buried in Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery having served in the Spanish American War in 1898.
