HISTORY: This house stood on the Wendler farm in the southern part
of Kendall County. The Wendler's, Carl A. and Katherine Wendler and five children,
came to Texas from Westphalen, Germany in 1855 and settled in the Kendall County area.
Son Henry Wendler married Pauline Luckenbach and this couple had seven children. Their son
Adolph married Wally Toepperwein and they had two sons. It is their son A.T. Wendler who has
continued to live at the old homestead which has been enlarged and modernized throughout the
years.
This house was designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark
in 1983.
