Hog Killing Time

  • After the first hard freeze, neighbors and family gathered to kill hogs curing the meat  for winter use. Sometimes they killed for several families at one time to combine the work.

Mattison Rudolphus Caten Boone (Matt), right was deputy sheriff in Knox County when he died in 1908. On the left is his brother Sanford Lafayette Boone.
