Sandhill Cemetery

This is the White Section Cemetery

Take the west I-45 frontage road at highway 79 in Buffalo and go south 0.20 miles.  There is a State Cemetery sign here.  Take this road to the right crossing over the railroad tract at a total of 0.70 miles.  Cemetery is on the right just across the railroad tract.

Originally used as the Buffalo Cemetery, but abandoned by the white people of the community when the present Buffalo Cemetery started.  The colored people of Buffalo started buring their deard nearby.  The colored Cemetery is in front of the white one, fenced.

This cemetery was called Buffalo Sand Hill in the prior cemetery books.

CORDOVA, Timateo (Padre) Aug 9, 1849 June 13, 1928

Original survey in 1966 by Billie Douthitt, Ann Monk, & Nancy Burnett.

In 2000 I (Herbert McCarter) did not find the Pennington section or the Cordova graves.  Some one had just recently cleared the woods and underbrush in parts of this section.  The black section is cleared and taken care of real good.
