I found during my research that Census Records can be very deceiving. 
The enumerators did their spelling by "ear" therefore a great variation in the
way names were spelled.  Also it seems that some people could have been counted
twice or missed all together.  If they were on the trails or helping neighbors in the
fields they were "assumed" to be a part of that family.  I learned to try many variations
of the spelling of names and search through all the "neighbors" for similar names.
