Joseph W. Moody. He came to Leon county in the late 1850's with his brother
Robert and mother Polly from SC.
JW Moody joined the Confederacy on September 20 1861 in Centerville and mustered
in with DeBray's 26th calvary. He began as a private but was promoted on 8
October 1861 to corporal and was eventually promoted to Lt. on June 15 1863. He
was admitted to the Houston General Hospital in 1863 and furloughed to the
Harrisburg Hospital. He resigned his commission on December 29 1864 due to ill
health.
He died sometime between 1886 and 1900, but I'm not sure where |
