| NOTES: Oscar Beggs Sr. planted five cedar trees in Siloam Cemetery, Leon Co., TX. He said once they were big enough to shade his grave he would die. When the trees were tall enough to shade the spot he died and was buried at the foot of one of them. His wife Alice, daughter Susan Gertrude "Little Gertie", and half sister Charlotte are buried at the foot of these trees also. Fact #1: Alice lost one of her eyes as a child. She had the measles and story is that the eye just popped right out of the socket. Fact #2: She was married to Henry Pipkin(s). They had twin children that died and are believed to be buried next to their Grandfather William Alexander in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Freestone Co., TX. It is unknown what happened to Mr. Pipkin(s) She then married a Mr. McNellege and they had one child. All three of them became ill and Mr. McNellege and the child died and are believed to be buried in the front yard of what was know as the Old Arnold Place, Freestone Co., TX. Oscar Beggs Sr. and Alice Paralee (Alexander) McNellege were married at Siloam Baptist Church, Leon Co., TX Susan Gertrude was known as "Little Gertie", she died at the age of 3 of complications from measles. |
