          Marion NICHOLS, his wife and children, moved to Leon Co., TX about 1895, probably from Mason Co., TX.
          He was the son of James Wilson "Jim" Nichols who had moved with his parents to Texas December 16, 1836 from Arkansas, and Mary Ann Daniell.  She was the daughter of George Daniell born about 1802 GA and Sylvania Pearce born 1804, NC.
          THE HANDBOOK OF TEXAS ONLINE lists the following service record in Texas for James Wilson Nichols, father of Marion Nichols:  Texas Ranger; member of the Frontier Battalion; member of the Minute Men; was a Scout for Capt. James Callahan; fought commanche's & etc., under Capt. James Coffee (Jack) Haye; served under Caldwell in the Battle of Salado Creek; and fought with Capt. Hays during the Mexican War.
          Marion Nichols was the only one of this Nichols line that moved to East Texas.  His siblings settled in Taylor Co., Guadalupe Co., Blanco Co., Gillespie Co., Llano Co., Bee Co., Zavallo Co., Hays Co., Bexar Co., and Kerr Co., TX
