Mary Amanda "Mandy" Pate Grissett

This was taken from Find-a-grave

Daughter of Daniel Pate and Susannah Graham Pate.
Daniel was born in N.C., Susannah was born in Clarke Co, Miss.
"Mandy" first married Zachariah E. Blackledge in Clarke Co, Miss. 6 Oct 1853.
Note**
Shortly after the birth of Isabella J. in 1858, Zach and Mary joined her parents on a wagon train headed for Robertson District, Leon County, Texas. Zach settled his family on a 325 acre farm that he purchased from Darrel and Martha Payne in 1859 for one dollar an acre.

On May 6, 1862, Zach was sworn into the CSA for three years under Captain C.P. Mattison of Wauls Texas Legion. The Legion was ordered to Mississippi and on 10/6/1862, six months later he enlisted in the regular army. Zachariah was seriously injured in the Battle of Vicksburg. He was buried at Vicksburg in Potter's field in grave No. 219. He died in the City Hospital in Vicksburg, which previously had been the Duff Green Mansion, built in 1856 by Duff Green for his wife. But after the Union Army moved into Vicksburg, the Greens turned their home into a hospital for the Union and the Confederacy hoping to spare it from being burned. They put the Union soldiers on the top floor so if the house was bombed, the union soldiers would die first. Then they put the Confederates on the main floor.

They had two daughters; Isabella J. Blackledge b. 1858, and Mary Suzanne Blackledge b. 1860.

She later married; Edmond Edward Grissett in Leon Co, Texas abt. 1863.
They had the following children:
1. Alphelia b. 1864 (twin)
2. Vadia Ophelia b. 1864 (twin)
3. Ella b. 1866 Leon Co, Texas, married; Henry J, Lambright, Leon Co, Texas 10 Aug 1886.
4. Edna "Ednie" b. 1871
5. Ira b. 1875
6. Annie Lovie b. 1878

She died in 1888, in Flo, Leon County, Texas.
I cannot find a burial record for her, but I believe she is buried in Parker Cemetery in Flo, Leon county, Texas with her parents, Daniel and Suzanna Graham
Pate and her husband. Edmond Edward Grissett.
