John Hugh McGuffin

 

John Hugh McGuffin # 1 who came to Leon County with his sister, Jane McGuffin Neal Recknor. He was a freight hauler in Leon County and died while on a trip. His wife, Sarah Elizabeth (SE) (umn) McGuffin, lived on in Leon County, finally going back to Many, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. They had a son # 2 named:

John Hugh McGuffin # 2, born March 30,1852 and died June 24,1891 (married Sarah Nippert-d.1896) and he had a son, # 3: (among others)

John Hugh McGuffin # 3 whose nickname was "Jack". He went into Oklahoma with the “Land Rush”. His grand daughter lives in Granbury, Texas. The other children of John and Sarah were: Infant (Keechi Cem), Barbra 1883, Blanche 1887, John (# 3 nicknamed Jack) 1889 and George 1891.

Sarah Nippert was the wife of John Hugh McGuffin # 2. She was the daughter of George Washington Nippert (1820) and Barbara (mnu) ? (1825). George and Barbara were both born in France. George and Barbara's children were; Sarah born Feb 26,1851, Jacob born late 1851, Pauline born 1855, George Washington born 1857, and Henry born 1852. All the children were born in Texas. Possibly Panola County, Texas.

Note: John and Sarah Nippert McGuffin’s baby was buried in Keechi Cemetery. Keechi, Leon County, Texas, and died sometime between 1880 and 1896. (Minerva Neal Clarke, daughter of Jane McGuffin) was the first person buried in Keechi Cemetery. She disappeared from census after 1880, and Sarah Nippert died in 1896).

Note: John Hugh McGuffin # 2 and his wife Sarah C. Nippert are buried at Moore's Chapel Cemetery, Leon County, Texas.

Sarah was born Feb 26,1851 and died Aug 4,1896.

John was born March 30,1852 and died June 24,1891 in Leon County, Texas.

Note: Blanche Nippert McGuffin married Benjamin Lafitte Magouirk born May 19,1879, Keechi, Leon County, Texas.
