Irene Raines

     Irene Raines, the daughter of Will Raines, and the granddaughter of Robert, was born and raised in our Corinth Community.  She married Sam Jones, the son of long time settlers of our Midway Community, Lon and Mattie Jones  .  Lon and Mattie were leaders of the establishment and development of Midway, Brushy, Flo and Buffalo.
     Sam and his brother-in-law Lee Kilgore were skilled carpenters and were special leaders of home and building construction throughout all of Leon county in the early years.  They built many homes, barns and buildings for our people.
     Irene and Sam's children Dorothy, LaVerne and Daniel, were proud to help with all the chores and were actively involved in church, school and community affairs.  They, as responsible adults, have served God, family, community and counties in all ways, to bring a better way of life and an equal opportunity basis to all.
     Dorothy has lived in the Corinth, Buffalo community all her life.  She is married to Billy Vann.  Dorothy is a lady who delights in preparing meals to inviting people over.  She also delivers her goodies to relatives and friends.  She has served as a leader in promotional gain for the best opportunities for our people, community and county.
     Dorothy helped to establish the Leon County Lions Club to be an industrious asset.
     Sam and Irene's daughter LaVerne has lived in Austin most of her life.  She has served in many ways to bring prosperity and growth to Austin.  She with the love of Leon County, keeps in touch with everyone.
     Daniel made his home in Longview.  He lived a productive life in service to his community and he gave support to Leon County.
     Irene and Sam are buried at the Siloam Cemetery, Leon County with many of their relatives.
