I would like to take this time to recognize an outstanding gentleman of the Red Branch, Oakwood, buffalo area who has been a vial part of the wealth and success in these areas.  Bro. Jack Smith who is a native has always been a loving, supporting family man.  His parents James Austin and Mary Ethel (Davis) Smith, who  were some of the first settlers to have a farm making a happy life serving God.  They were good people who loved their children, family members and neighbors.  This family was always the first to offer a hand when one was needed.
Bro. Jack Smith with love and respect for his parents has lived a decent, honorable life always thinking of his family and friends first and for most.  Anyone would be proud to call Jack a friend.
Jack and his family have always been dedicated members of the Mt. Pisgah Church at Red Branch.  His family has played a very important part in the establishment and the service of God's ministry.  Young Jack became a Christian at a very young age and has been a faithful servant of God's ministry all through his life.
Jack attended the Red Branch and Oakwood schools, his education was limited due to the fact that he had to help his family with the crops and with the hardships the family faced with the running of a farm.  He worked at any available job for extra money for his family.
Jas has had some interesting jobs such as a Boiler Maker for a tank business in Houston, an employee with Houston Power and Light, heavy equipment operator, welder, and very successful in cattle ranching, but most of all he is an outstanding Minister, Evangelist and Pastor, of God's Ministry.  He helped many find their way to God; has been a faithful servant for more than forty three years.
Jack built the Fairfield Christian Center Church and the beautiful Calvary Christian Church on Hwy 79, where he is the pastor.
Jack married Dianne Woodard of Crockett and has lived most of their married life in Leon Co.  They have always been supportive parents and grandparents teaching them Christian values.  Jack Jr., his wife Tina, their children, Monica, Jack III, Tara, Denise and Garrett, Mark and his wife Tammy, their daughter, Dianne her husband Terry and their daughter Heather they are all a very close knit family.
Bro. Jack Smith legacy will be told from generation to generation who will always be known for a loving family man, devoted Christian.
