Body of Man Is Found in River

The body of Jim Alexander, 66-year old Oakwood fisherman who drowned Sunday morning in Trinity river a mile south of the U. S. Highway 79 bridge, was found Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Searchers found the body in brush about 200 yards below the point where Alexander fell into the water as he was putting out nets. His daughter and her children, standing on the bank, saw him dissappear about 11:30 am.

Six crews working out of boats has been dragging the river bottom with grappling hooks since shortly afternoon Sunday. A net had been placed across the river near the Missouri Pacific Railroad bridge to prevent the body from going downstream: however, searchers found it below the net.

Anderson County Sheriff Roy Herrington, assisting in the search said Monday afternoon that Alexander was subject to heart attacks, and indicated that he thought the Oakwood man may have been suffering from an attack when he fell into the stream.

State Highway patrolmen stationed in three counties assisted in the search, which began near noon Sunday.

Officers said the water in the vicinity where the man drowned varied from six to ten feet deep.
