Lee Alexander, 71, of Oakwood, was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital at 1:10 p.m. following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Memorial Baptist Church of Oakwook eith the Rev. Jim Nedbalek officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood City Cemetery. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until carried to the church for services.

Pallbearers will be F.G. Lipsey, Lawrence Lipsey, Fred L. Magcuirk, Cross Moore, Marion Hortman, Milton Morgan, Ernest Coats and Tommy Ray Alexander.

Mr. Alexander was born December 22, 1900 in Comanche, to Alex Alexander and Mrs. Ophelia Prestidge Alexander. A resident of Leon County for over 50 years, he was a retired farmer and rancher, and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva Lee Myers Alexander of Oakwood; two sons, John Alexander, and R. V. Alexander of Oakwood; a daughter, Mrs. M. V. (Dorothy) Ray of Brownwood; one sister. Mrs. Florence Powell of Palestine, seven grandchildren, and numerous neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Grant, on Aug. 17, 1954, and by a son, Marvin Alexander on Dec. 18, 1957.
