CLAUDE EVERETT BAKER
Died: 4 September 2008 – Walters Funeral Home

Claud Everett Baker, age 77, quietly ascended to his eternal rest, on the morning of Sept. 5, 2008. Claud was born in Navasota, TX, Sept. 4, 1931, to parents, Claud Leon and Hazie Warren Baker. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Claud was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for many years. After his retirement in 1985, he successfully operated his own business, Baker Tractor Sales, from his home in the Cottonwood community. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family. Claud was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen L. Baker, his parents, Claud Leon and Hazie Warren Baker of Jewett, Texas, and brother Stewart Frederick Baker of Jewett, Texas.

He is survived by two brothers, Kenneth Baker and wife, Barbara of Dripping Springs, Texas; Jerald Leon Baker and wife, Maria of Tamalipaus, Mexico; sister-in-law, Gerry Baker of Jewett, Texas; two daughters, Claudia Ann Tucker of Huntsville and Terri Lynn Baker of Cottonwood; son, Tracy Lee Baker and wife, Meta of Cottonwood; granddaughters, Karen Tucker Moss of Huntsville and Lisa Anne Baker of Madisonville; great-grandsons, Gabriel Eugene Moss and Zackary Everett Moss of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ginger Mahaffey, nurse and guardian angel. Claud will be remembered in his community and surrounding area for his character, honesty, and devotion to his family.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Madisonville Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Hafer officiating. Interment will follow at Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 at Madisonville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions please be sent to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030 in Claud’s name.
