After several years of bad health, Mrs. Susie Palmer Kyle passed away Monday morning at about 11 o'clock, and was buried Tuesday afternoon in Hopewell Cemetery. Services were held at the cemetery, Revs. C. T. Cummings, R. M. Davis and R. V. Holleman taking part in the final services. A large crowd of relatives and friends attended the funeral, and a special honor, the business houses of Normangee closed for the occasion. The J. M. Day Co. of Madisonville had charge of the burial. Mrs. Kyle was born in Mississippi in 1866, and was 68 years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Palmer, the oldest child of the family. She was married to J. W. Kyle in Mississippi, in 1885, and a few months afterward came with the Palmer family to Texas, settling after a few months in the neighborhood of Normangee, where they have made their home ever since. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle has been from then until her death about a couple of miles from town. Mrs. Kyle leaves six children, George of Jewett, ED. W. of Schulenberg, Mrs. Irma Chambless, Jim Lee, Mrs. Ellie Elliott and Joel of Normangee. Two children preceded her in death, Bedford and Josye, both living till grown. Her husband survives her, and several children. Mrs. Kyle has been in bad health for a number of years, and has sought relief in different hospitals and health resorts. For the past several months she has been confined to her room and bed, steadily growing weaker until the end came. She was a devout member of the Methodist church, and has proved her home life by bringing up a splendid family of worthy children".
