Kilpatrick / Fleet -- In Gum Springs Cemetery is shows Mary Kilpatrick's first husband to be Walter T. Fleet.  Does anyone know where the info on Walter T. Fleet came from?
Mary Kirkpatrick was my Great Grandmother and I know she was married to a Fleet and they had a son Edward R. Fleet. (The census in 1880 shows Ed or Edna and a daughter and it is incorrect as is a lot of info in the census.
I know that Robert Kirkpatrick and Mary had 3 children together one being my Aunt Nellie.  I stayed with her a lot as a child and just wish I would have found out more info on the family.
I have searched all the census and cannot find a Walter T. Fleet.  I do know he was from England.
I would like to know where the records came from so I might do some further checking.  Thank you  Pat Runnels

Reply: Pat, in regards to the census' being wrong...I thought that too but found out that a lot of times when you can't find someone on a certain census it could be that they moved here after the census was taken and therefore do not show up on a certain census.  Cheryl

McMillin/an, ABSALOM SC 1774 -- I am looking for any record, deed, death, voting, burial, etc. transfer of anything, relationship to anyone in Leon Co. of one Absalom McMillin who was born in SC in 1774 according to the 1860 Leon Co. Census.  He lived in LA (where one of his daughters was married in his home in Caddo Parish as was Elijah McMillin Oct. 21, 1840).  I cannot prove that Elijah and Absalom McMillin, b. 1839 were brothers.  The senior Absalom resided next door (or across a street) from Elijah in Leon Co. in the 1860 census.
If anyone would be willing to search for records for a fee or know where records could be found - as the Leon Co. court house burned after Absalom '74 died, sometime probably in the 1860's - please let me know.  I really want to learn more about who he was and who his ancestors and descendants were.
If he son Absalom '39 is your ggrandfather there must be more of his descendants living who might know about Absalom 1774.  Thank you. Jane McMillin Bubier

Simms -- Hi, my name is Crystal Simms.  I have been doing research on my family in an attempt to locate my grandmother Reba Simms, who to the best of my knowledge is still living in Leon County somewhere.  On the web site in the Burleson Cemetery section she is listed (noted as living however) along with my Grandpa and many other deceased relatives of mine.  Her name is incorrectly listed however (which has since been corrected by Cheryl).  My grandmother's name is Reba Mae Simms, but was incorrectly listed as Ruby Mae Simms.  She does have a deceased twin named Ruba which is where the confusion may have come in, but Reba Mae Simms is the wife of the late James Lee Simms, mother to Sharon Simms and my father, the late James Holland Simms (he died of terminal brain cancer in 1983).  Thus far, I have been unable to locate her but am hoping that perhaps someone there may know her or where I might could find her.  She is almost 84 years old now and I am desperately trying to find her before she passes on so she can at least meet her 3 great-grandchildren and I can see her and tell her I love her.  Any information you could give me would be most appreciated.  Thank you so very much.
Crystal Kay Simms

Farris / Grooms -- I am looking for leads on the first wife of Riley C. Farris, Mattie E. Grooms - married 20 Oct 1896 in Leon Co.  Their children were Lewis J. Farris b. 1897 and Minnie Missoura Farris b 1900.  Riley's brother shows Nancy Grooms Birge as his sister-in-law in a 1920 census record.  And, the same brother is a boarder with Nancy Grooms Birge and her husband William in a 1900 census record.  There is a connection, but I haven't been able to locate any other records or info.   Nancy Swanson

Dickey/Spiller -- Perhaps someone can help me with some information relating to the Dickey-Spiller family.  I am trying to track down info on a female Spiller who would have been an ancestor to J. E. Dickey.  Dickey, whose roots are in Oakwood, I think, and his wife operated the Leon Co. News for many years.  I think J. E. Dickey is descended from the union of John Edmund Dickey and Anna Spiller, as best as I can tell from the Leon Co. history book.  I own a quilt, attributed to Dickey's great or great-great grandmother Spiller.  The quilt is signed "C. S. Age 69yrs 6mos".  According to the Leon history book, the Spillers were in Leon Co. at least as early as the 1870's.
I haven't spent time in the genealogical library in Centerville, although I've spoken to Earl Moore and Marge Bridges.
Thanks in advance for any assistance or direction you might be able to provide.   Harold Hollis

Adams / Green -- I continue to search for information on my Adams ancestors -- Sallie Rose Adams or Rose Adams (b. abt 1862 Leon Co., TX) married a Joe Green and had children --W.C. or Clint Green & Lena Green. Or any info on James Thomas Adams & W. C. - Clint Adams?
There is a Joe John Green, Rosa Green, & W. C. Green buried in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery and I am wondering if these may be who I am looking for.  I do know that W. C. - Clint Adams & wife Tippie May (McCoy) Adams who are buried there are my ancestors.  But not sure if Joe & Rosa Green are.
Would anyone have any further info? Or suggestions of where to search?  I am not able at this time to come to Leon Co. to search the library & Court House.  Thank you & God bless.     P. Adams

HAGLER--I am looking for information on George Washington HAGLER, and his wife, Sarah LANCASTER HAGLER.  Sarah was the
daughter of James Lupo and Charity LANCASTER, originally of Edgecombe County, North Carolina, who later moved to Marion Co.
Georgia.  Sarah, also called "Sally" was born April 28, 1834, probably in Talbot Co., GA (some census records suggest the year
was 1837).  I believe George was the son of Philip and Eddy HAGLER, and was born circa 1843.  The married in Marion Co. in 1866.
George and Sarah first moved to Freestone Co., then Oakwoods/Oakwood in Leon Co.  Since Oakwood is near the county line,
I am thinking they could be buried in Freestone Co., instead of Leon.  I would like to find the burial location of George and Sarah
HAGLER, as well as their dates of death. Thanks  Robert

HERREN, Bella or Pella - - The Vanetia Cemetery has a listing for Bella HERREN b. Jan 11, 1842 d. Oct 28, 1925.  "Pella" T. (Pellatiah Manes Grant HERREN, my great-great-grandmother), b. Jan 11, 1842 Pell City, St. Clair CO., AL; d. Oct. 26, 1925.  Is it possible that they were twins or a mistake with the names?  A relative had once thought Pella was a twin, but no one else seems to have heard that.  Could possibly be they were confused because of the "Bella" and "Pella" names?  Just wondering if anyone might know.  Contact
