Oak Island Cemetery

Recorded by Mrs. Luther (Kate Steele) Adamson
and Mrs. Frank M. (Ruth Stuart) Taylor

Oak Island is the name of a grove of beautiful huge old Oak trees which stand on a hill top in lovely rolling countryside.

1848 William Patton gave part of the grove for the building Of a Presbyterian Church and adjoining cemetery.

Many of the early pioneers who settled the country, those who Wire member of the Presbyterian Church and others of the community, were buried in this
cemetery.

It is now carefully kept by descendants of those buried there.

Since this cemetery is so near the county line separating Freestone and Limestone counties, it is being included in the listings of the Limestone County
Cemeteries.
