    Interred in the sacred soil of the Prairie Hill Cemetery are a few of the early settlers who resided at Prairie Hill. During their lifetime they knew when the cemetery came into existence and probably attended the funeral of the first person who was buried here. At their death they left no record of these facts, and now this information has become forever lost to the people of this generation.
    On June 4, 1890, I. R. Leathers and his wife, Medora A. Leathers, deeded the Baptist Church of Prairie Hill three acres of land. This three acres of land took in what is now known as the older part of the cemetery. At the time the deed was executed, no mention was made of a cemetery being located on this land. It could have been the intention of the church to deed a part of the three acres to the cemetery, but probably due to neglect this was not done until April 1, 1876.
    There are two rock roads in the cemetery that intersect and divide the cemetery into four sections. These sections have been designated sections A, B, C, and D. This three acres of land took in all of section A and a part of section B.
I have alphabetized the listings for ease in finding surnames.  The sections are placed beside the names.
