1850 Census shows John Pruitt to be a Mill Wright
John & Artemessia "May" Pruitt were in Hancock Co., MS in 1850 census, then in 1860 they were in Freestone Co., TX near Cotton Gin Post Office and in 1870 in Limestone Co., TX with May Pruitt as head of household and unknown what happened to John Pruitt, thought to have died from 1864 to 1870.

* Confederate records indicate Frances Marion Pruitt was in Co D 10th Nelson's Regiment Texas Infantry in Civil War.  He enlisted at Ft. Herbert, TX on Jan 10, 1862.  Was in CSA General Hospital Shreveport, LA from Apr 16, 1864 to May 3, 1864 for Vulnuo Scolpitiema

* John Henry Pruitt was enlisted April 27, 1862 with Capt Kennedy Co D 10th Nelson's Regiment Texas Infantry in Fairfield, Freestone Co., TX.  With the Confederate States on april 7, 1862 and died in Little Rock, AR hospital on August 15, 1862 of Typhoid fever.
     On June 19, 1863 and affidavit in Freestone Co., TX attesting to John H. Pruitt as the son of John Pruitt, signed by John Prewit (exactly like he signed it) for the purpose of obtaining whatever is due from Confederate States Government after the death of his son during the Civil War in which he died in Little Rock, AR in a hospital.  John H. never had a wife or children as his father, John Pruitt, stated in an affidavit.

* Robert James Pruitt worked for the Railroad. Robert and Martha Pruitt had 14 children and the last born was Dee Roy Pruitt.  Dee Roy and Jennie Mae Pruitt had Stanley Dee Pruitt who was my father.

* James Pruitt -- Family stories report that he rode away to pay taxes and never returned at an unknown age.
