Mexia was the home of the first bank in the county. Early in the
seventies Thomas J. Oliver and W.H. Richardson
organized the Oliver and
Richardson Company. Richardson . . . relinquished his rights to W.L. Griggs and
Oliver and Griggs was established. Oliver and Griggs moved to Dallas in 1882 . .
