La Para Cemetery

Live Oak County, Texas

Directions to cemetery from Dennis Smith

I have been to the La Para Cemetery in Live Oak County, and it's not easy to find or describe. About 8 miles east of George West on 59 you turn on to 1596 (north of 59), go about 2 miles you come to come to a fork, take the right fork which is 339, about a 1.5 miles turn left and not too far down this unpaved road on the left hand side is a path that leads to a small fenced cemetery with La Para on the gate. It's not real easy to see from the road, but it is sort of like in some rancher's "back yard". Grass and brush are high.

Notes from Dennis Smith

I didn't find Francis Ault Bolgiano (died 02/11/1898) there, but not all graves were marked. Some gravestones had names of Sinor, Tindol, David and Freasier and the last person buried there was a Mr. Ponder from what I read in a Live Oak Co. history book in the Clayton Library in Houston. I even took a picture of the iron gates bearing the Lapara name.
