WINTERS FAMILY
The Winters family lived in Live Oak County and then Benjamin Winters, son of James and Rhoda Beall Winters, moved to McMullen County near Yarbrough Bend. Both served at San Jacinto. Benjamin's mother Rhoda Creel Beall Winters is on the 1860 Live Oak Mortality Schedule. The Winters and Tullous/Tullis/Tullos families were related to each other, see James Tullous on the mortality schedule too, and are buried in Live Oak County. James Winters eventually moved to Big Foot, Frio County and many other Winters, Cudes and allied families also moved to Frio County by the 1880s - 1900 from other parts of South Central and SE Texas. I work on Benjamin Franklin Winter's family and add content about them when I come across information, as several of Benjamin's children are married into the Tope, Moore, Dunn and White families that are from my Yarbrough family. The Winters family was huge and they mainly traveled with the Cude family. If you find a Winters very likely a Cude is nearby, and they intermarried into each other's families. I see this over and over again. Benjamin Winters born 1820 TN, died 1910 buried in Bigfoot, Frio Co. and his wife Sylvania Cude born born 1825 AL, died 1906 buried in Longview Cem, Frio County.
James Washington Winters was born 1773 in North Carolina and died on May 23, 1848 near New Waverly, Texas. Rhoda Creall Beall Winters was born 1784 in North Carolina and died on June 25, 1859, Live Oak County, buried in Oakville Cemetery, Oakville, TX. Rhoda is also listed on the 1860 Live Oak Mortality Schedule.

a Trek of the Winters Family, aka Trail of the Sons of San Jacinto.
Apparently you could obtain a map and visit the cemeteries that the Winters
are buried in. I have a copy and it is available here. I have
come across quite a few people that have used the map and went on this Winters
tour before I put this on the internet. Later people wrote me and told
me that they took the tour after they saw my page. See the Winters
