Flood.-- An overflow of Red river has caused great destruction. At Jefferson, Texas, the water was three feet deep in the warehouses, where there was a large accumulation of goods on account of the impassable state of the roads leading to the interior. The water rose so suddenly that there was no time to save anything, the inhabitants being barely able to escape.
The bottom lands on the river are overflowed for a hundred and thirty miles below Shreveport, and the productive cotton fields of the region are ruined for the season.
