The Jimplecute-- What is the meaning of the word Jimplecute? We
have often been asked this question and the only answer we could
give, is, that it is the name of a well edited Jounral, published
at Jefferson, Texas, the last number of which, received here
contains quite a gem of poetry intitled "the voice of the
seabreeze" by Miss Lucy C. Craft.-- Will the editor be good
enough to enlighten us on the subject? Is the term of purely
local origin -- Some cant term peculiarly Texan-- or is it the
name of a plant-- a race-- or dug out from some dead language--
or like the word skedadle, suddenly sprung into existence, no man
knows exactly how or where.
