Robert E. Page Buried Friday Afternoon
Funeral services for Robert E. Page, veteran employee of the T & P Railroad, were held at 5 p.m. last Friday afternoon from the family residence at 110 S. Market Street. Mr. Page had been a resident of Jefferson for 39 years. Mr. Page had been retired from service for 11 years due to ill health. Mr. Page passed away Thursday morning at 8:40 a.m. He was born in Rutherford County, Tennessee on 22nd February 1873. He married Nancy Mullin in 1895. From this union, two sons were born, Henry Page of Handley, Texas and Robert Page of Fort Worth, Texas. Survivors include two sons, their wives and four grandchildren, Nancy, Sue, Robert, Jr. and Rachel Page, one brother, Dr. Lera Page of Rutherford, Tennessee and a sister Mrs. Vida Debrow of Sparta, Tennessee. Rev. R. Reeves, Presbyterian minister of Hutton, Texas conducted the services, assisted by Rev. T. R. Morris, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Parvino Dies From Pneumonia
Chas A. Parvino died at his home west of this city, Friday evening, December 15th from pneumonia. He has been a resident of Jefferson all of his life. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters and several grandchildren. The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. L. F. Brothers assisting in the burial services and the Cypress Camp #665 W. O. W of which he was a charter member, took charge for the burial services conducted by Judge P. G. Henderson and W. J. Hill assisted by a large number of Sovereigns.

Charles Patman Buried Monday
Charles 10-year-old son of Congressman and Mrs. Wright Patman died of rheumatic fever in a Texarkana hospital early Sunday morning after a prolonged illness. Brought to the family home in Texarkana about two weeks ago, blood transfusions and an oxygen tent were used in a futile efforts as the youth’s heart failed after he was apparently cleared of fever. Funeral services were held at 4 o’clock Monday afternoon from the First Baptist Church in Texarkana. He is survived by his parents, three brothers and his grand-parents, Mr. & Mrs. John Patman of Linden, Mrs. Ralph Ford, sister of Mr. Patman, also a resident of Linden.

Former Resident Dies In Arizona
Horace W. Perry, a native of Jefferson, Texas and later a resident of Morris, New York, died in Arizona, 12 August 1912. He had been living in Arizona for about 4 years with lung trouble. He was born in 1882 and at age 15, he moved to New York where he entered high school, he graduated in 1901.

Mr. Perry Dies From Pneumonia
Mr. Lev Perry died at his home west of this city on the Kellyville Road at 4 p.m. Friday, March 2nd, after an illness of pneumonia since Tuesday. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday. He is survived by his wife, four daughters and a son, Mrs. William H. Joyner from Magnolia, Arkansas, Miss Jeanett and Rosa Perry from school at San Marcos, Miss Kate Matthews from San Antonio and Mrs. Haywood of Waco.
Note: Levin King Perry born in 1858 and he is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery, by his wife Adella Mathews Perry.

William Perry
William Perry died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning at his home in Brenham. William Perry was born in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas on the19 May 1850, last Sunday being his 62nd birthday. He married first Miss Helen Caldwell at Jefferson, 28 January 1872. They were blessed with three children, one being Mr. Murph V. Perry of this city. On 28 November 1886, Mr. Perry married Miss Alice Cornelia Wright, who became the mother of Annie Lee, Mary and William of this city. On 5 November 1898, Mr. Perry married Mrs. Mildred G. O’Riordan, mother of Miss May Turner O’Riordan. Mrs. M. G. Perry lived with her husband in Brenham since they were married.
In 1882, Mr. Perry moved from Jefferson to take charge of the Brenham Compress, the position that he held for many years, he then accepted the management of Brenham Compress Oil and Mfg. Oil Mill, a position he held until his death.
Mr. William Perry was a son of the late Captain William Perry and the only brother of Mrs. L. V. Claiborne of this city.

Mrs. M. A. Peterson Is Buried Sunday
Mrs. M. A. Peterson, age 78 years died at her home here Saturday at 12:10 noon after an illness of nearly a year. Mrs. Peterson had been a resident of Jefferson for 47 years and was active in church and social affairs, up until about a year before her death. She was a member of the Methodist Church since childhood. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Haggard Funeral Home by Rev. T. R. Morris, pastor of First Baptist Church. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. Eight children, four boys and four girls, J. E. and Carl of Jefferson, survive her. E. A. of Crockett, G.A. of Jacksonville, Mrs. Lelia Hughes of Henderson, Mrs. Dora Hall of Diboll, Mrs. Christina Hall of Ponta and Mrs. Anna Pressler of Jacksonville, Florida.
Note: Martha A. Peterson 14 November 1861 – 8 July 1939 w/o Fredrick F. Peterson 26 April 1842 – 27 February 1922.

Death Of Little Omer Powell
At 6 a.m. Thursday morning August 11th, Omer, the little daughter of Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Powell, died after an illness from typhoid fever and congestion, aged six years and ten months. Little Omer was not thought to be dangerously sick and Rev. Powell was in Longview attending a meeting when he received the news of her death, he came home on #6. The funeral took place at 10 a.m. Friday.

Death of J. C. Preston
J. C. Preston passed away at his home in this city, last Sunday morning, after a short illness from pneumonia. Mr. Preston was one of the oldest citizens of Jefferson, having lived here for more than 55 years. Mr. and Mrs. Preston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago, all of their children were present for this occasion.
The deceased was a leading business man for years, until feeble health took him from active life. He leaves a devoted wife, an invalid for years from rheumatism, she is quite sick now; two sons, Revs. W. B. and T. J. Preston; five daughters, Mrs. W. H. Murphy, Mrs. W. B. Harper, Mrs. R. D. Hart, Mrs.Georgie Hamilton, Miss Cinnie Preston, to mourn his loss. The funeral took place Monday at 3 p.m. at the family residence with the Rev. A. J. Francis officiating, with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Note: Mr. Preston was born 6 March 1835 and he died 19 January 1908 - His wife, Mary A. was born 9 September 1838 and she died 21 July 1911. Both are buried at the Oakwood Cemetery.

Death Of Mrs. J. C. Preston
Mrs. Mollie BRADFORD Preston, widow of the late J. C. Preston, died at the home of her son, W. B. Preston, in this city at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 21st at age 74. Mrs. Preston had resided in Jefferson for some fifty years. She was the mother of two sons, W. B. Preston of Jefferson and Tom Preston, a missionary in China; five daughters, Mrs. W. H. Murphy of Hobart, Oklahoma, Mrs. W. B. Harper of Austin, Texas, Mrs. Georgia Hamilton of Houston, Texas, Mrs. R. D. Hart of Cleburne, Texas and Miss Cinnie Preston at home. All were here except Mr. Tom Preston. The funeral took place from the residence at 10 a.m. Sunday and services were conducted by Rev. M. E. Chappell, of Texarkana.

Sawmill Accident Claims Life
Tom Preston was killed instantly early Monday morning at Clark & Boice sawmill north of Jefferson. The funeral was not held unto Monday afternoon to await the arrival of his brother, Archie Preston of Rockway, Iowa. The burial took place at 4 p.m. at the New Prospect Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. T. P. Jolly at the church after which some fourteen members of the Cypress Camp #665 W. O. W. of Jefferson conducted the services at the grave. He is survived by his wife and four children, two brothers, Ben Preston of Jefferson, Archie Preston of Iowa, two sisters, Mrs. H. E. Baldridge of O'Donnell and Mrs. J. H. Morrow of this place.
Note: Tom S. Preston was born 20 August 1873 and died 29 January 1916.

Nina Pruitt, the young daughter of Manuel and Edna Pruitt was born 10 September 1908; died May 4th. The body was laid to rest in the Shiloh Cemetery.

Mrs. R. F. Pyland Dies
Mrs. R. F. Pyland, age 67, died at the family home Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. after an illness of several months, funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dickey of Avinger and Rev. Webb of Hughes Springs conducting the services. Interment was in the Pyland Cemetery.
Mrs. Pyland was the mother of thirteen children, four boys and nine girls, all of them survive the deceased. Douglas Pyland of Avinger, Pete Pyland of Vivian, Louisiana, Ruby Lee Pyland of Hughes Springs, Russell Pyland of Avinger, Mrs. Fred Parr of Avinger, Mrs. Ernest A. Stark of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Anna Lake O'Bryan of Avinger, Mrs. Armand Johnson of Lassater, Mrs. Tommie George of Linden, Mrs. Jack Witt of Hughes Springs, Mrs. Roger Brown of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Boots Wimberly of Smithland, Miss Ola Pyland of Jefferson; twenty-seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Note: Mrs. Lillie Frances REEDER Pyland was born 8 May 1873 and died 26 March 1940. Her husband Reps Franklin Pyland was born 1 December 1868 and died 28 August 1937.
